Unique “Cave” Turkish Bath in Cappadocia

“What happens in a Hamam?” The ritual is simple yet deeply relaxing. After entering the hamam at Kelebek Hotel, you arrive in the camekan with changing cubicles. Wrapped in a traditional pestemal and wearing wooden nalin clogs, you pass through a semi-transparent door into the Sicaklik—the hot, steamy room. We also recommend bringing a swimsuit for extra comfort. The Sicaklik, filled with warm steam, soap scent, and flowing water, creates a peaceful atmosphere where everyday stress quickly fades.

In the gentle heat, your body loosens and your mind calms. Sitting by a marble basin, you adjust the water temperature and pour warm water over yourself with a copper bowl—instantly soothing. If you choose the kese peeling and soap massage, your attendant (tellak for men, natir for women) will thoroughly scrub away dead skin before covering you in soft, soapy foam. You may then enjoy a classic, aromatherapy, medical, or shiatsu massage in a quiet room with relaxing music.

After the treatment, you take a final rinse and leave the hot room. Fresh towels are provided, and you rest in the Sogukluk—the cool lounge—where you can relax and dry off. When you’re ready, you dress and return to your room, noticing your skin fresh, glowing, and incredibly soft. Although not traditionally part of a Turkish bath, a sauna is also available for guests who wish to use it.
